Our Lady of Mercy Vocational Training Centre

Our Lady of Mercy Vocational Training Centre is a learning Institute located along Likoni Road, Industrial Area.

The training centre was established out of a need to provide several skill programs enabling future employment.   Therese Strain, a British Airways Hostess, organised the BA Runners group, to help raise funds for the permanent building.     The Centre has a Computer Laboratory, Hairdressing salon, Catering classroom, Restaurant for practicals and a Dressmaking classroom.  The Centre has expanded significantly since its inception with a single knitting course.  It now offers 10 courses to young people from Mukuru slums, and enrolment has grown to over 270 students since 2020. In 2022, the new therapy block funded by Manos Unidas designed to meet the specific learning needs of academically challenged teenagers.  All students are supported in their quest for technical skills in different fields to help them in their future careers and life.

The intakes are in January, May, June and September for particular courses.
